16 - Starting a Home Business? Have You Answered the Five W's?

If you've been thinking about starting a home business, you're not alone. Thousands of people start their own businesses every day. So what are the five W's of starting a home business? How do you answer the who, what, where, when, and why for your own start-up?

WHO. Who are you starting the business for? Do you want to become notable for your accomplishments in the community or provide a service that will help someone? It's important to know who will benefit from your business so that you can adequately address your clients' needs and not lose sight of the motivational factors behind your personal venture.

WHAT.  What do you want to accomplish by starting a home business? Are money and income the most important factors? Do have a specific goal in mind for starting the business? For some people starting a home business has more to do with freedom than financial gain, while for others making a higher income and providing better for their family is the main priority.

WHERE. Where do you want to set up your home business? You can start an online business or work straight out of your home providing a service to local clients. It all depends on what you plan to do for your home business and how you want to achieve results. Conduct a lot of research on how you should set down roots and get your business started - this will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

WHEN. Make sure you don't launch your business until you're completely ready. Get everything in order and organize all your affairs so you have a game plan before you dive in. If you have a website, make sure you test it to ensure it's running smoothly before launch. Is everything in working order and ready to go?

WHY. What is the main motivation behind your business idea? Why do you want to start this business in the first place? There are a lot of why questions you can ask that will help you forge a strong path and create a solid foundation for your business. Asking yourself these questions will help you to focus on what's important and make it easier to achieve your goals.

Once you've got all the five W's covered, it will be easy to launch your business and keep it running smoothly for years to come.

If you want more traffic visiting your website there are several things you can do to make it happen, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money or take up too much of your time. In fact, the best secrets of sending more traffic to your site are often the simplest ones. First, one of the best things you can do is start a few blogs related to the theme of your website.  Keep the blogs updated with relevant content and provide good information to your readers - if you do this, it's possible to create more buzz around your original website. People will discover your blogs, find out more about the topic at hand, and then discover your online store and the products that you sell. If your blogs become more and more popular, it's only natural that more traffic will be redirected to your website.

Another way to send more traffic to your website is to comment on other blogs. This may seem counter intuitive, however, participating in blogs that are similar to your own is a great way to let people know about your own website and blogs. When you leave comments, don't forget to include links to your blogs and your website.  Doing this allows you to target the type of people who will be interested in the product you are selling, making it easier to convert traffic to actual sales.

When you're writing your own blogs, don't forget to mention other websites in some of your posts. Again, this may not seem like the right thing to do when you're trying to promote your own products, but the more you provide relevant information to your readers, the more they will like your blog and find a good reason to come back again and again. Repeat visitors are more likely to turn into repeat customers that trust you enough to buy your products.

Plus, the more you discuss other blogs and websites on your own blog, it's more likely that the same websites that you mention in your blogs will return the favor and do the same thing for you. Building a good rapport with websites and blogs on similar topics is one of the most effective ways to get the word out on your own website and product.
